Talofa Lava Everyone.
Wow! Don't I feel smart. Today was my first day in our Digital Fluency Incentives Manaiakalani course. It was a real eye opener into using Chrome and Google tools. Next week I will be starting our class as if it was day one of 2018. We will all be re-setting up systems to create new docs that go straight into the correct folders. Room 3 will learning about headings and sub-headings by inserting contents tables. Some of my lovelies will be voice typing and I will no longer be underlining words as new age underlining means a link of some sort. My colleagues may be some what confused but my lovelies in Rm 3 will hopefully appreciate the amount of mind and will power it takes to remove the line from my bold headings.
'Removal of Barriers' was a quote from Gerhard Vermeulen that really got my attention. I feel like there were many barriers taken away today for me and my class. It gave me the confidence to blog today which is one of those barriers that I will slowly chip at. Thanks Tanya Ching for sharing your blog with me to help me make a professional blog so mine can look as styley as yours. Feel free to check out the link here :)
Great day today. Couldn't have started any better than meeting and hanging out with Ulrike. Thanks to the whole team who supported me through today. Looking forward to the next 8 session with the team.

Talofa Lava Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI love what you had to say about today's session. I feel the same about setting up some routines as I'm constantly finding that my children - particularly year 4's - are not creating or saving documents into their files. It's a nightmare so it's something I also need to address!
I too will be using the voice type for some of my students as they will really benefit from this.
I'd love to see what you created today too! I wonder if you could include the link?
See you next time :)
Hi Michelle, it was great to meet you today. Be encouraged, even I will be starting over come Tuesday to ensure all my class have the right systems in place for filing and creating new documents, slides and drawings. The timely reminder of using voice typing was great to and how it is not instead of writing but a removal of barriers.
ReplyDeleteTalofa Michelle,
ReplyDeleteGreat reflections on the first DFI. I agree that 'removal of barriers' is inspiring. Yes, let's remove those barriers for our learners.

Talofa lava Michelle, thanks so much for joining our group and for what you brought to us as well. I am so pleased that we were able to share new learning with you and to give you the time to work with like minded colleagues to reflect and share ideas. The removal of barriers is so important for our learners to accelerate success and I am delighted you identified a barrier you can 'bust down' immediately.
ReplyDeleteFaafetai Michelle, I am so stoked that you found our first session beneficial for both your own workflow as well as for your learners. I agree with everyone else who has commented, good on you for identifying some barriers that you are able to remove by refocusing on some of the routines and systems that are so crucial for our learners and the way that they access their learning. Also, it so great to see you chipping away at some of your own barriers around blogging at a professional level. Thanks for your honest thoughts being willing to share them!
ReplyDeleteHi there Michelle, it was really good to meet you.I love your enthusiasm about what you learnt and how you are going to implement it into your classroom- that is what PD is all about. Lets see what else we can learn and implement.
